Baz says: Statistics never lie (even the one stating that 67% of statistics are made up) and owning a dog actually lowers your blood pressure. It’s true.

This song I reckon was written in under 10 minutes. I guess maybe it shows. It’s a really silly song and was never meant to grow up into a ‘real’ song, but now, somehow, it has found it’s way onto “Next Time”.

Even the vocal was just meant to be a guide track for Slim to follow, and as such was put down with a healthy degree of self-mockery. I didn’t really think even for a second that Slim would actually consider this one a contender, but I gave it a shot anyway…and then Uncle Slim just liked it exactly as it is - and he’s a very strong-willed guy beneath that gentle exterior.

My good old dog
Keeping my blood pressure down
My good old dog
Someone to walk with when I’ve got to get myself into town
A friend in need
when I’m too blind to see
My good old dog
ain’t never gonna let me down

My good old car
is gonna get me to the show
We’ve come this far,
and we don’t like to travel slow
My trusty steed…
The Rusty Rocket’s running hot!
My good old car
ain’t never gonna let me down

My good old Gal
Pouring me another beer
My good old Gal,
shedding me a gentle tear
I love her more than my car and my dog
My good Old Gal
ain’t never gonna let me down

I love her more than my car and my dog
My good Old Gal
ain’t never gonna let me down
